W. Randolph Burgess (1889-1978) was an economist and diplomat, who worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the National City Bank of New York before going into government service. As deputy to the secretary of the treasury and later undersecretary during the Eisenhower administration, he played an important part in formulating America's foreign and domestic economic policies.
